MODELLING CONCEPTS

Creasing.

Like normal manipulation, creasing is a non industry technique to sharpen edges (and more recently vertices on a model).

While creasing may seem like a wonderfully convenient way to achieve some shapes, its usage in professional modelling is heavily discouraged. There is no agreed standard for creasing, so models that use it are considered to be broken.

You will often find unpredictable edge rendering problems occur and the amount of divisions required in the subdivision surface modifier leads to uneven distribution of geometry both inside and across local geometries.

As with normal manipulation, TurboSquid will not allow their professional Checkmate Pro certification for any model which has creasing applied to any part of a mesh. Again, the studios don't want models that use them.

Models are shaped using control loops and only control loops. Anything else will tie your model to blender and that is not very useful in a professional pipeline.

All creasing values of all elements must remain at zero.
